RN Labs Exploring

Part One - Tuesday 7th May, 9am AEST
In this exciting presentation, Dr. Jaclyn Smeaton will shed light on the importance of male sex hormones and how they impact energy, sense of well-being, and overall vitality. Additionally she will cover how male hormones are affected by sleep patterns, lifestyle choices, stress management, and environment. Dr Smeaton will cover the impact of the daily choices made, as well as how genetics can strongly influence how hormones shape the ability to maintain health in all stages of life. Hormones are not a static process and it is important to understand how these dynamics influence our capacity to interact in all areas of our life, in all stages of our life. Dr Smeaton will be touching on different life stages and hormonefluctuations including puberty, mid-life, and andropause. Dr. Smeaton will also delve into the significant effect male hormones have on mood, motivation, and overall mental health, as well as the capacity to influence physical health including muscle mass, metabolism, and healthy libido. She will also review the most
recent up-to-date research supported options for testing, lifestyle, diet, and overall intervention for optimal healthy male hormones.

Learning Outcomes

  • Outline the major hormones that impact male health and vitality.
  • Utilise best options for testing male hormones and hormone evaluation.
  • Understand optimal functional medicine approach for the best quality of life in all stages of life.

Part Two - Tuesday 14th May, 9am AEST
We are back to discuss to sex hormones and how they significantly impact females in this round of our education series. Dr. Smeaton will be explaining the importance of female hormones through life stages including puberty, fertility, perimenopause, and menopause, as there are major fluctuations in health at each stage of life. Female sex hormones influence and impact
metabolism, sleep, capacity to deal with stress and ability to conceive. Dr Smeaton will also cover how these hormones will imact the transition to menopause and how they can still have a major influence on quality of life in the postmenopausal stage. Though we rely on our bodies to make these hormones, the environment can also greatly impact how hormones function in the body. Dr Smeaton will also delve into how oestrogen and progesterone impact overall health including bone health, cardiovascular health, as well as other changes that occur with hormone fluctuations like changes in body odour, skin changes, sleep, and more. Dr. Smeaton will cover important interventions including lifestyle and supplements to help in supporting your patients in maintaining healthy female hormones.

Learning Outcomes

  • Create intimate understanding of female sex hormones on growth, life experience, and overall quality of life.
  • Understand the most research supported opportunities for sex hormone evaluation and why.
  • Emerge with a broader understanding of functional medicine treatment options that show optimal results for improved quality of life.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the impacts on hormones and hormonal changes throughout life stages including puberty, fertility, perimenopause and menopause.

Session 2 of FxMeds Functional Testing - Lunch and Learn Webinar Series 2024:
The Neurotransmitter Connection to Stress - Case Studies and Clinical Applications

Case studies are always a great opportunity to solidify clinical applications. Responses to stress vary patient by patient. Insomnia, fatigue, anxiousness, depressive episodes, poor attention, increased pain, GI distress, and weight gain are some of the most common presentations to our offices. Looking for common threads is crucial to supporting patients on their road to health. The nervous system uses neurotransmitters all day, everyday, and stress places an increased demand on these neurotransmitter systems.

Join Dr Scott Theirl as he discusses why neurotransmitters, along with hormones such as cortisol, are key to understanding your patients stress responses and symptoms.

Key Takeaways:

  • The basic concepts involved in neurotransmitter interpretation.
  • An understanding of case analysis for personalised therapeutic recommendations.

Free, NZ-Practitioner only webinar, presented by Dr Scott Theirl, DC (Doctors Data), Thursday 9 May | | 12 – 1pm NZST

Bio Practica Metabolome

Introducing The New Bio-Practica Extemporaneous Compounding Range!  Be there for the launch of the first products in the new extemporaneous compounding range. Understand the clinical research, insights and applications of these exciting and innovative ingredients, specifically targeting the metabolome and metabolic flexbility.
Presented by Prof Dr Jurgen Vormann and Paul Kern

  • Discover the latest research and gain innovative prescribing skillsfor enhanced clinical results in metabolic health and disease prevention
  • Explore novel clinical approaches towards targeting metabolic plasticity for improved overall health and longevity.
The metabolome, a comprehensive snapshot of all the small molecules present in an organism, wields a profound influence on health and disease. This dynamic network of metabolites encompasses a wide range of biochemical compounds which are influenced by the interplay of an individual’s genes and their environment, reflecting their metabolic status.
  • Metabolic flexibility, the ability to adapt and switch between different metabolic pathways, lies at the heart of this intricate system. When the metabolome is finely tuned and adaptable, it can maintain energy balance, support cellular functions, and safeguard overall well-being. Conversely, dysregulation in the metabolome can lead to a range of health issues, including metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and obesity. The metabolome offers crucial insights into the underlying mechanisms of these diseases, opening doors to personalised treatments and lifestyle interventions that leverage metabolic flexibility to promote optimal health and prevent disease.

What you will learn:

PART 1 - Innovative Therapeutics For The Ageing Metabolome – Paul Kern
Why the metabolome is central to disease prevention and health optimisation.
Exploration of novel therapeutics which support the metabolome and delay or reverse common
Which prescriptive diets are clinically proven to support the metabolome and which foods should be avoided.

PART 2 - The Critical Role of Minerals in Metabolic Flexibility – Prof. Vormann
How to enhance your patients’ health and metabolism by harnessing metabolic flexibility.
Why mineral deficiency is so detrimental to metabolic flexibility and health overall.
How age impairs the efficiency of these metabolic pathways and strategies to support our ageing patients.

PART 3 - Navigating Hormonal Influences on the Human Metabolome – Paul Kern
Explore the impact of various hormones on metabolic flexibility.
Gain insight into natural medicine strategies which promote hormonal detoxification for improved metabolism.
Identify instances where detoxification support may be required for improved metabolic flexibility

Integria Hidden Pathways logo

From puberty to menopause, the average reproductive lifespan for women is 36 years

During this time, it is estimated that a woman will experience over 400 ovulatory menstruations, a stark comparison to the estimated 40-160 that occurred in women during the nineteenth century. This dramatic shift has led to an increased lifetime exposure of oestrogen, as well as a greater susceptibility to reproductive disorders.  Research continues to unveil a complex network of internal systems and interactions that impact female reproductive function and dysfunction. This network synergy requires consideration of how the pieces fit together as well as disturbances in every phase of the cycle to create an informed therapeutic approach.
In this two-part live stream, clinicians will present recent research and updated understanding of key presentations that are often challenging to unravel while discussing best practice naturopathic support.
By attending this seminar you will gain an understanding of:

• The hidden facets and the real drivers of clinical presentations that are commonly overlooked
• Evolutionary, whole-body approach to understanding endometriosis beyond hormones
• Case studies to showcase clinical presentations and understanding of key drivers, and effective wholistic management

Date:  16th June at 12.30 AEST
